Guest Bio

Sarah Cochran began her career as a freelance journalist covering regional conflict in the Middle East and South Asia at the Department of State, where she was also part of the Women’s Empowerment Action Team on Education, suggesting ways media can be used to make education more accessible to women and girls in Muslim-majority countries. Sarah speaks publicly and meets regularly with media entities, community leaders, scholars and business professionals to foster and develop media strategies and intercultural awareness of Arab and Muslim cultures.

Sarah graduated Magna Cum Laude with a triple major in economics, political science and international studies from Southern Methodist University. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in conflict resolution at Georgetown University, where her focus is the impact of new media technologies on global conflict.

While supervising overall operations and designing strategies for transforming conflict, Sarah manages oneblue‘s new media-based Conflict Resolution workshops (hyperlink). She also hosts oneblue.tv, a social media diplomacy platform that connects youth on contested issues concerning the Arab and Muslim world.
