Sheriff Lee Baca has stepped down as Sheriff of Los Angeles following widespread corruption at the department that has netted indictment for 18 deputies. Current Sheriff’s candidate Bob Olmsted joins Crime Time to discuss how to fix the Sheriff’s department, and goes into the extent of corruption of Baca, Paul Tanaka, and the culture of violence and abuse that has gone unchecked for far too long. Defense attorney Mike Cavalluzzi joins host Allison Hope Weiner for the discussion with the man who would be Sheriff.
Former Commander Bob Olmsted is a current candidate for the Los Angeles County Sheriff who acted as a whistleblower following his retirement from the police department, where he served as Commander of Custody Headquarters, and Captain of the Men’s Central Jail. Additionally, he has taught on Criminal Justice at El Camino College.
