Army Chief Says Congress Is Wasting Money on Tanks & Other Unneeded Equipment

The Pentagon told Congress to stop wasting money on tanks and other weapons it doesn’t need at the Senate Armed Services Committee meeting yesterday regarding the impact of sequestration on national security. With the defense budget set to be cut by 40 billion dollars, Army Chief of Staff General Raymond Odierno implored the committee, lead by new chairman John McCain, to give the U.S. Military’s service chiefs more power in the Defense Department’s acquisition and procurement system in order to prevent wasting money on equipment the services don’t need.
