A woman’s Atheist license plate request was denied in New Jersey, and she is now suing the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission for rejecting her request. The woman, Shannon Morgan, was rejected on the grounds that her vanity plate, which would have read “8THEIST,” might be offensive to some. However, her request for a plate that read “BAPTIST” was approved.
