20-month-old babies are capable of practicing metacognition, a sophisticated form of intuition that aids in determining when you are wrong or have somehow made a mistake during problem solving, according to new research. The new study out of Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, France tested a baby’s’ “gut feeling” about knowledge, or lack thereof. Before the study, tests only monitored if babies could verbalize understanding leaving many to assume that infants developed metacognitive skills later in life. Margaret J.
