Let's talk about it.

Theme Park Death Simulator Recreates Cremation In a Coffin

With Halloween just around the corner, horror-themed amusement park fans in the United States could easily be made jealous by a popular ride inside a Chinese park that simulates death and cremation.

The high-tech 4D Death Simulator – also known as the cremation ride – takes people on a ghoulish journey through a mock furnace at Window of the World theme park in Shenzhen, China.

The rider goes through the process inside a casket and the simulated oven actually reaches an uncomfortable temperature over 104 degrees.

The concept of death simulation actually started in South Korea years ago at a place called The Coffin Academy – where participants would pay $25 to write personal tombstone sayings, bid farewell to loved ones, and then climb into coffins to experience mock death.

The idea has been criticized by people in the psychology field as glorifying death in South Korea, which has one of the world’s highest suicide rates. Proponents say the death simulators can provide motivation for people to make changes in the moment to improve their lives.
