Cuba has become the first country to eliminate the transmission of HIV and syphilis from mother to baby. Cuba partnered with the World Health Organization and put in place a five year program with increased education and access to antiretroviral drugs to eradicate the transmission from mother to child. Globally, more than 35 million adults and children are living with HIV. We discuss this ground breaking achievement further on the Lip News with Jose Marcelino Ortiz and Margaret J. Howell.
