Humans have exhausted a year’s supply of natural resources in less than eight months. Earth “Overshoot Day” marks when our demands on the planet exceed its ability to regenerate resources. The world’s population is currently consuming roughly 1.6 planets a year and with current deforestation, soil erosion, water stress, consumer consumption and a booming population, The Global Footprint Network estimates that the figure should rise to two planets by 2030.
