Facebook is causing a massive scale emotional contagion, according to a study by researchers at Cornell University, which showed that positive emotions expressed by others on Facebook influence our own posts to be positive and vice versa. These results are the opposite of other findings that have suggested positive Facebook posts negatively affect us through upward social comparisons.
