Does CRISPR DNA Editing Technology Pose a Risk to Humanity?

A prominent group of scientists has called for a global moratorium on the use of a controversial new genome-editing system. In a paper published in Science magazine, the group argues that changing human DNA in a way that can be inherited is a major development, and that the scientific community isn’t smart enough to responsibly pursue this line of research. The moratorium, while not binding, might influence researchers to hold off on germline alteration, but it could also hamper a promising line of scientific investigation. We look at the story in this Lip News clip with Gabriel Mizrahi and Jo Ankier.
