In the wake of last week’s mass shooting at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell set up a vote on Monday to expand the FBI’s secretive surveillance program. The move, which came less than an hour after Senate Republicans voted down a series of gun control measures, would broaden the FBI’s warrantless spying program to include email metadata and some browsing history information.
