Medicinal cannabis spray Sativex may have contributed to the recent breakthrough of New Zealand teen Grace Yeats who suffers from the rare brain illness basal ganglia necrosis. The illness had left her unable to move or speak, but cognitively unimpaired. However, videos posted to the Grace Yeats Trust Facebook page show the 13-year-old speaking, after waking up from surgery on Saturday, for the first time in almost four years. Is the $1,100 a month medicinal marijuana, which Grace had been using for the past few months, responsible for her miraculous breakthrough?
