Monsanto’s Roundup and other herbicides containing the ingredient glyphosate are a probable cause of cancer in humans, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Researchers found convincing evidence that the chemical, which is used in more than 750 different products, causes cancer in rats and mice and limited evidence that it has the same effect on humans. Now, the World Health Organization has declared that glyphosate should be categorized as a “probable carcinogen” for humans. What does this mean for companies like Dow Chemical and Monsanto?
