Children’s brains respond stronger to their mother’s voice than anyone else according to a new study from the Proceedings of the National Academy of sciences journal. Researchers scared the brains of 24 health children between the ages of 7 and 12 and found that 97% of the time children were able to identify their mothers voices, even when listening to nonsense words. This ability affects the parts of the brain that are linked to emotions, reward and facial recognition and are activated far more when hearing their mother’s voice compared to women they did not know. Elliot Hill and Margaret J. Howell break down the studies findings on the Lip News.
