Two spacecraft are being sent into space by NASA and ESA scientists to crash into an asteroid, known as Didymos, and knock it off course, as part of a test for whether our plans would work if Earth comes at risk of being wiped out by an asteroid. The joint US-European Aida (Asteroid Impact & Deflection Assessment) mission is set to be launched in October 2020, and they are expected to reach Didymos by May 2022.
