North Korea’s largest political prison camp has expanded to include dams, hydroelectric power plants, apartments, an athletic field, a mine and fish farms. According to the latest images on Google Earth, examined by Curtis Melvin of the US-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins University, these changes are affecting Camp No. 16 in Pyongyang, the country’s capital. Amnesty International stated that the camp imprisons about 20,000 people and forces them to work in treacherous conditions. Currently Pyongyang denies the existence of their five political prison camps. What could the latest expansion mean for North Korea? We take a look with Nik Zecevic and Jose Marcelino Ortiz.
