North Korea’s nuclear tests could trigger Mount Paektu to erupt. Seismologists are warning that recently detected seismic activity, rising levels of sulfur dioxide and strong ground motions may disturb the magma chamber of the volcano and accelerate volcanic activity. Mount Paektu produced “one of the largest explosive events in human history in 1946, producing a flow of hot gas and rock early 1,000ft thick.” N.
