Some of Britain’s elite do not have to pay taxes on their foreign income or assets if they can prove that their fathers were born in a different country and that they intend to return to that country some day thanks to an old law that’s still on the books in Britain. The law is receiving new criticism in the wake of the HSBC tax scandal causing many in Britain to ask whether the law is keeping wealth inside the country, or simply allowing wealthy elites to avoid paying their fair share.
