Putin Says Russia’s Work in Syria is Done

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops in Syria as peace talks resumed saying Moscow’s military intervention in the country had largely achieved its goals. Russia began its campaign of airstrikes in Syria last September, preventing the collapse of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and allowing Syrian government troops to recapture territory from rebels.
