Brian Encinia, the Texas state trooper who arrested Sandra Bland, was formally fired on Tuesday. Encinia arrested Bland in July 2015 after a routine traffic stop. Bland was found dead in her jail cell three days later. Encinia was fired by Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw, who said the officer’s actions during the traffic stop with Bland violated department standards.
