Texas Fails in Trying to Keep Syrian Refugees Out

A lawsuit filed by Texas officials seeking to block Syrian refugees from resettling in the state was rejected last week by US District Judge David Godbey at the request of the Obama administration and nonprofit refugee resettlement group the International Rescue Committee. Judge Godbey ruled that Texas has no authority over resettlements handled by the federal government. He also found that the state failed to prove Syrian refugees pose a national security threat.
