Twitter shut down several Russian accounts that were dedicated to poking fun at the Kremlin, sparking protests and raising questions over the company’s stance on free speech. Twitter suspended accounts such as @Russia_Not, @RusEmbassyNot, @SovietSergey and @AmbYakovenkoNot. The biggest outcry came after Twitter suspended @DarthPutinKGB, an account that attracted 60,000 followers. Twitter’s communication department has yet to respond to the controversy, but they did restore the accounts.
