US Court Orders Palestinian Authority to Pay Bombing Victims $218 Million

The leadership of the Palestinian Authority has been ordered to pay more than $218M to victims and their families for providing material support to bombings and shootings in Jerusalem, by a US Federal Court in Manhattan. The case was brought forth under Anti-Terrorism law, and is only possible as Palestine is not officially recognized as a sovereign nation. The ruling has strong implications on Abbas’ standing in the world community, and potentially opens up a host of possible questions-not the least of which being the perceived military action from Israel against the Palestinian people during the last several years-and how this could further politically shake up the region. We discuss the ruling on the Lip News with Elliot Hill, Jo Ankier, and Mark Sovel.
