Let's talk about it.

Woman’s Fake Instagram Exposes Mean Truths of Online Dating

Anyone who has tried one of the many online dating sites or apps knows firsthand that there are pluses and minuses to the anonymous nature of the experience.

But does the immediate electronic communication aspect of dating actually trigger more brutal, insulting and aggressive jabs that most people wouldn’t even think of uttering over the phone or in a face-to-face conservation?

One woman recently set up a bogus Instagram account called Bye Felipe to catfish date-seekers and document some of the candidly abusive messages. Alexandra Tweten explained in a blog for Ms. Magazine that she undertook the experiment “in order to compile harassing and hostile messages men send to women after being rejected or ignored.”

Among some of the most graphic zingers were the following:

“Hello I’m Stan, nice to meet you. You’re so attractive to me and I love your cute face.” After receiving no reply, the conversation takes a distinctly dark turn: “Stuck up bitch… I would beat the living shit out of you.”

“Hey Thanks! You were too. But I thought about it all night and I think we’d better suited to other people, nothing personal. Good luck!” “No worries, you’re not my type either. I don’t like fat girls. I also don’t like girls who can’t hold in their burps which validates why you’re fat. The last text I sent you was intended to be an “exit” text. Anyway, good luck to you too but not really.”

“Here’s what I’m thinking. We get to know each other and inevitably hit it off. Then, we go on this epic amazing date and then you’ll have the story you want. Guess not lol. Ur not even anything special. Why ignore me. You look like a fuckin tranny.”
