Episode Synopsis

In episode 1 Allison sits with Theodore Boutrous, Jr., an attorney who’s renown for his expertise in First Amendment law and who’s represented a plethora of media organizations during the course of his career. Ted and Allison sit down to talk about the Bush administration attempts to limit freedom of the press and how the Obama administration seems particularly concerned about government leaks the media. Ted and Allison also chat about whether the current economic climate and dwindling resources has forced media organizations to be more circumspect about running controversial stories from unnamed sources that might prompt a government investigation. They also discuss Theodore’s work to overturn California’s Prop 8 and his representation of Wal-Mart in a case argued he successfully argued in front of the Supreme Court.
