DETROPIA, JESUS CAMP, and THE BOYS FROM BARAKA documentary directors Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady speak about making their films from UNIONDOCS in Brooklyn. Their work from FREAKONOMICS through DETROPIA is shown in clips and discussed with attention to the details of filmmaking necessary to create great documentary-only on BYOD, the world’s only doc talk show.

 

Guest Bio

Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady are the directing team behind LOKI FILMS. The duo is best known for their Academy Award nominated film, JESUS CAMP, a candid look at Pentecostal children in America. They have also directed BOYS OF BARAKA, 12TH AND DELAWARE, and a segment of FREAKONOMICS. Their most recent film, DETROPIA premiered at the 2012 Sundance film festival and won the editing award for Documentary. They are currently working on “BRANDED” a film for ESPN’s “Nine for IX” series that reveals the trials and tribulations of American’s most elite female athletes.
