Let's talk about it.

Sebastian Roché Plays Drug Lord in Liam Neeson’s A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES

Highlight Synopsis

With the new season of the Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals set to premiere October 6, Sebastian Roché talks about his character’s return “with a vengeance,” plus he talks about appearing alongside Liam Neeson in the film A Walk Among the Tombstones.

Roché says the film - in which Neeson plays a private investigator hired by a drug kingpin to find out who kidnapped and murdered his wife - focuses on anti-hero themes.

“My character is actually a Russian drug lord. So of course, as soon as you say Russian drug lord, you have an idea what the character’s going to be like. Especially when I wear a tracksuit and white socks with sandals,” he jokes.

He explains that the drug lord finds himself in a tragic human disposition when his own daughter gets kidnapped.

His character is friends with another drug dealer whose wife gets kidnapped, so they join up forces to exert revenge. “So these two psychopaths target drug dealers expressly – because they are not going to go to the police and they have cash readily available.”

Roché showcases the movie’s full trailer and said it was a change playing a bad guy who in reality turns out to be very vulnerable.

In the full interview, Roché discusses the Shakespearean tone of the new Originals episodes and provides details on some series plot twists. “I came back last season in sort of a tempestuous way,” says Roché. “They basically want to give a beautiful tone to this season. It’s going to be more of a gothic fairy tale with Shakespearean undertones – very ambitious.”

He said his character is filled with rage and poised for dramatic conflicts with other characters. “Mikael comes back with a vengeance. There are going to be some epic confrontations between me and my son – my illegitimate son Klaus – of course, because those confrontations are usually the most interesting.”
