In what is being billed as the first ad of its kind, a Slovak artist has created a unique video message meant to provoke dialogue about sex. But the most unusual part of the ad is that it doesn’t depict footage or images of sex involving people at all - instead, it portrays various situations and “positions” illustrated by a pencil and sharpener.
The video – accompanied with classical music in the background throughout - begins with the voiceover introduction, “Sex… “Most like it classy.” This is then followed by filmed footage of the pencil being inserted into the sharpener, and continues with “Some like it fast,” with footage of the sharpener being rotated, and continues from there.
The ad - created by the artist known as Matus the First – was released through the Metropolitan Movie Institute’s YouTube channel. He explained his goal in making the ad to Britain’s Mirror newspaper.
“When sex becomes a routine it is necessary to change something. Therefore this is not a product commercial, because you can’t buy a solution to some things. I felt though, that in some cases it might be important for people to change something in their minds, and this commercial is not only about sex but also about thinking.”
