Diesel Emissions Scandal Will Cost Volkswagen $14.7b

Volkswagen will pay up to $15 billion to settle claims that it cheated on diesel emissions tests. Volkswagen publicly admitted last September that 11 million of its cars worldwide were fitted with software that distorted air-quality tests. The German automaker will offer to repair or buy back the affected cars and pay 5,100 to 10,000 in cash compensation to each owner.
