Fox News Apologizes for False Claims About Muslim No-Go Zones, But Jindal Repeats Narrative

Fox News was already in hot water for erroneous comments about Muslim no-go zones made on one of its shows about the British metropolis of Birmingham being a “Muslim-only city,” but that didn’t stop Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal from making his own false statements on the issue.

Fox News even took the highly unusual step of issuing an on-air apology for the comments made by “terror expert” Steven Emerson, who mistakenly claimed that Birmingham had been converted into a city where “non-Muslims simply don’t go,” and that is ruled according to strict Islamic Shariah law.

Fox anchor Julie Banderas issued the apologetic clarification about Emerson’s appearance on the show Justice with Judge Jeanine.

“To be clear, there is no formal designation of these zones in either country, and no credible information to support the assertion that there are specific areas in these countries that exclude individuals based solely on their religion,” she said.

So it was surprising that Jindal brought up no-go zones in Europe during a speech to a British think tank in London on Monday.

Jindal said in his opinion, the problem stems from some immigrants seeking “to colonize western countries, because setting up your own enclave and demanding recognition of a no-go zone are exactly that.”

He added: “Startling to think that any country would allow, even unofficially, for a so-called no-go zone. The idea that a free country would allow for specific areas of its country to operate in an autonomous way that is not free and is in direct opposition to its laws is hard to fathom.”

The discussion also points out that when questioned about his controversial comments, Jindal didn’t back away from his views. “I knew that by speaking the truth we were going to make people upset,” Jindal told CNN’s Max Foster.

“The huge issue, the big issue in non-assimilation is the fact that you have people that want to come to our country but not adopt our values, not adopt our language and in some cases want to set apart their own enclaves and hold on to their own values,” Jindal said. “I think that’s dangerous.”
