Former CIA Officer Convicted of Leaking Secrets to New York Times Reporter

Former CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling was convicted of espionage Monday on charges that he told New York Times reporter James Risen about a secret operation named Operation Merlin to disrupt Iran’s nuclear program. Risen published the classified information in his 2006 book State of War potentially giving Iran the details they needed to further their nuclear ambitions.
