Greek Anti-Austerity Party Leader Alexis Tsipras Takes Power

 

The far-left Syriza party, led by new Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, has taken power in Greece. Syriza has 149 seats, just two short of an absolute majority, with all of the votes counted in Sunday’s poll. The party plans to oppose austerity measures placed on them due to bailouts after the 2009 debt crisis, which they believe have made the country a debt economy, and Tsipras has promised to try and renegotiate a viable solution. We take a look at the leadership change and discuss the party’s plans, in this Lip News clip with Jackie Koppell.
