Millions of GMO mosquitoes could be released in the Florida Keys if British researchers win approval from the FDA to use the insects as a drug against two viral diseases. British biotech company Oxitec will be conducting the experiment in order to combat dengue fever and chikungunya. Over 130,000 people, who are seemingly frightened at the idea, have signed a petition against the experiment on Change.org. Do the benefits outweigh the risks?
