New Film Floats Theory that Hollywood Writer’s Mysterious Death Could Be Linked to CIA

The death of screenwriter Gary Devore has been the subject of much speculation since he disappeared in 1997 and a new documentary promises to answer some questions about the Hollywood writer’s mysterious death, including the theory that the CIA was involved.

Filmmaker Matthew Alford spoke to Britain’s Daily Mail about his documentary The Writer With No Hands, which refers to the fact that when Devore’s body was found submerged in the California Aqueduct in 1998, both of his hands were missing.

“There could be an innocent explanation for the hands but it is as extraordinary as the conspiracy theory and very suspicious,” Alford told the newspaper. He added, “Someone in authority lied. Or made a shocking error.”

At the time of his death, Devore was working on a film called The Big Steal – which was supposed to reveal the real reason the United States invaded Panama. The script for that movie was also not found when his body was located about a year after he went missing.

According to the Daily Mail - which obtained details about the documentary exclusively - Devore was working with the CIA in Panama.

The article said the film reveals the reasons the CIA would have had to “eliminate” Devore, since the movie he was working on supposedly had uncovered information that would have embarrassed top U.S. officials.

Among them were photos and sex tapes obtained from former Panamanian president Manuel Noreiga that allegedly showed high-ranking U.S. figures partying with women, drinking and doing drugs at Noriega’s house.
