A California oil spill that leaked thousands of gallons of crude into Santa Barbara waters has covered about nine miles of coastline just days before the Memorial Day weekend, according to officials. The spill originated from a broken 24-inch onshore pipeline along the coast, and an aggressive cleanup has already begun to contain it and limit its effects on wildlife and the environment.
