Guest Bio

Warwick Ross was born in colonial Hong Kong in 1955 and moved to Australia in 1965. After completing an honors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Melbourne, he travelled to the US where he attended film school at the University of Southern California. He started his career on Columbia Pictures’ The Blue Lagoon. Later, he was involved in a number of Australian feature films including Roadgames, starring Stacey Keach and Jamie Lee Curtis; the superhero spoof, The Return of Captain Invincible, starring Alan Arkin and Christopher Lee and was Associate Producer on Stanley, directed by Esben Storm.

In 1988 he joined the team of Yahoo Serious, David Roach and Lulu Serious, to produce the comedy, Young Einstein. The film was a critical and box office hit and at that time, the most successful film ever released by Warner Bros in Australia.

With the same team, Warwick produced Reckless Kelly, distributed internationally by Warner Bros. and Mr Accident released internationally by MGM.

His current projects include the WWII drama Escape from Hong Kong and the romantic comedy The Untitled Bulgarian Project, once again collaborating with friend and scriptwriter, David Roach. Apart from heading up Lion Rock Films, Warwick Ross is also a vigneron. His winery, Portsea Estate, in Victoria, Australia has won national and international awards for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Ondi Timoner is the only filmmaker to win Grand Jury Prize at Sundance twice. Born in Miami, Florida, Timoner graduated cum laude from Yale University, with a double major in American Studies (concentration in Film and Literature) and Theater Studies.
