Guest Bio

Tory Christman is a former member of the Church of Scientology. She left the organization in 2000, after being a member for about 30 years and is now one of its most visible and high-profile critics.

Christman discovered Scientology in her early twenties after being introduced to the book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health written by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology. A self-described ‘hippie’ at the time, Christman hitchhiked from Chicago (where she had been raised) to Los Angeles in order to begin the process of studying Scientology in search of clarity and a profound connection between body, mind and spirit - not only for herself but in order to teach others as well. Over the course of thirty years, Christman moved up the ranks within the order of organization to the second-highest level.

For twenty years, Christman worked with the Office of Special Affairs (OSA) in an effort to remove and curtail critical and condemning material pointed at Scientology from various media outlets - news, television programs, internet, etc. During [what would become] her final years within the organization, Christman felt increasingly conflicted because she supported freedom of speech and felt her activities constituted as censorship.

For the past thirteen years, Christman has been traveling the world lecturing about Scientology, sharing her story and truth behind the “cult.”
