Antibiotic-resistant superbugs could kill ten million people a year by 2050, according to a new report commissioned by the UK government and headed by British economist Jim O’Neill. The report, “Tackling Drug-Resistant Infections Globally: Final Report and Recommendations,” analyzes the dangers of antimicrobial resistance and calls for global action to be taken immediately to fight the threat.
